SCOTTSBURG WARRIORS SET FOR HOLIDAY CHALLENGE AT THE CLAY CITY CLASSIC
The Scottsburg Warriors will close out 2025 with a quality early-week test, traveling to the Eel Dome for the 5th Annual Clay City Classic on December 29–30. Sponsored by Riddell National Bank, the two-day event brings together six programs from across the state for a fast-paced, pool-play format that should make for an exciting postseason-style atmosphere in late December.
Tournament Field and Format
This year’s Classic features six teams split into two three-team pools:
Pool A: North Vermillion, Owen Valley, Scottsburg
Pool B: North Central, North Putnam, Clay City
Each team will play two pool games on Day 1. Pool standings then determine the Day 2 matchups, with crossover games for 3rd place, 2nd place, and the championship.
That structure means every game matters from tip-off Monday morning—pool results directly decide who you face on Tuesday and what you’re playing for.
Day 1 Schedule (Monday, Dec. 29)
Pool play opens with a full slate of games, alternating between Pool A and Pool B matchups:
11:00 a.m. – Pool A Game 1: Owen Valley vs. North Vermillion
12:30 p.m. – Pool B Game 2: Clay City vs. North Putnam
2:00 p.m. – Pool A Game 3: North Vermillion vs. Scottsburg

Scottsburg’s path starts at 2:00 p.m. against North Vermillion, followed by a 5:00 p.m. matchup with Owen Valley.
Day 2 Schedule (Tuesday, Dec. 30)
Tuesday’s games are determined by Monday’s pool standings:
4:00 p.m. – Game #7: 3rd Place Pool B vs. 3rd Place Pool A
5:30 p.m. – Game #8: 2nd Place Pool B vs. 2nd Place Pool A
7:00 p.m. – Game #9 (Championship): 1st Place Pool B vs. 1st Place Pool A
Scottsburg fans should expect a competitive holiday showcase at the Eel Dome!
